QR Code Generator — Free QR Codes for Links & Text
A QR code generator turns any link or text into a QR code that phones can scan. The code is made entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded — and you can download it as a PNG image.
How it works
- Type or paste a website link, text, email or phone number.
- Choose the size and error-correction level.
- The QR code appears instantly — download it as a PNG to print or share.
Formula
Worked example
Paste https://calclytools.com into the box and a QR code appears at once. At 256 pixels with medium error correction, it scans cleanly from a phone camera and downloads as a PNG you can print on a poster, menu or business card.
Frequently asked questions
How do I create a QR code for a website?
Paste the full website address (starting with https://) into the generator above. The QR code appears instantly and you can download it as a PNG.
Are QR codes free to make?
Yes — this generator is free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The QR code you download is yours to use anywhere.
What size should a QR code be when printed?
At least 2 cm × 2 cm for a link scanned from close up. For posters or signs read from a distance, make it much larger — a good rule is about 1 cm of code per 10 cm of scanning distance.
What is error correction in a QR code?
Error correction adds backup data so a code still scans if it is partly covered, dirty or damaged. Level M (medium) is a good default; level H (high) is best for codes printed on curved or rough surfaces.
Do QR codes expire?
A QR code that simply contains a link or text never expires. Only paid dynamic QR services can stop working — codes made here are static and work forever.
Is my link sent to a server?
No. The QR code is generated in your browser using a local library. Your link or text is never uploaded or stored.
